Founded in 2018, Casey initially printed up some shirts just for fun and to see if any friends would be interested in them, a sort of passing one-off art project. As a collector of t-shirts with unusual designs, she wanted to try her hand at doing something relative to the Nashville music culture, while still maintaining an otherworldly psychedelic vibe (hence the name, Local Oblivion). Casey met Kellie through the Nashville music scene, but they really bonded over a shared love of underground comics. After officially teaming up in 2021, the two ladies decided to go full force into the t-shirt game and expand the concepts and designs. Kellie’s designs (under the name B-side Bootlegs) are takes on beloved songs and albums across the record collecting spectrum. Casey’s designs are geared towards Nashville’s history of country music and the great outdoors. With love for punk rock, outlaw country music, old comics, wild animals and vintage fonts, Casey and Kellie wanted to design shirts that would fit right in between a thrift store rack of world tour concert tees and neighborhood little league shirts. With new concepts on the horizon (odes to post punk and the Riotgrrl movement, and of course, more critters), and new relationships with Nashville boutiques such as The Bowery Vault, Local Oblivion is ready to reckon with Nashville and the great beyond as a fashion force - for those of us feeling froggy.
